In my journeys around the internet, I discovered a FANTASTIC way to learn programming. Programming tutorials online . – Derek Banas’ YouTube channel.
His programming tutorials are unique because they go so fast.
If you’re new to programming concepts, you’ll probably find his videos to be more overwhelming than helpful, but they are excellent for someone with a rough idea of how programming works. If you’re serious about programming, go subscribe to him right now. He’s awesome.
Due to some of my more recent projects, I’ve been focusing primarily on his JavaScript tutorials. He edits to create the fastest tutorial possible on the largest amount of material. I absorb the material best if I watch the videos twice. The first time, I just watch it straight through and try to get a feel for the concepts he explains. Then, with the second pass, I take notes and pause often, sometimes rewinding a bit to review the more difficult concepts.
While I wouldn’t recommend his videos for those of you who are new to programming, they’re perfect for trying to expand your knowledge of a particular language, review material you haven’t used for a while, or to get a solid footing in a new language. And remember, it’s a video, so don’t be afraid to rewind and rewatch it entirely or in part.
Another great site to pair with the programming tutorials is, of course, W3Schools. It can help you to get a more focused explanation of particular commands or pieces of code. If you’re looking for more of a “big picture” view, there’s lots of information available but one of my favorite resources is part of the Mozilla Developer’s Network which is focused on web technology for developers.
Once again, if there’s anything I may be able to help you with, just send me an email or leave a comment. If I don’t know the answer already, I’ll do my best to help you figure it out. Thanks for reading and best of luck with your programming adventures!
