Google Analytics & Starting Small

Inspired by a fascinating night of studying blog programming structure, I awoke today and decided to connect to Google Analytics.

Prepared to watch my popularity soar (or at least to verify that my dad really DID read that post he said he did), I loaded ‘er up. I decided to post a screenshot of my Google Analytics as it currently stands, since this symbolizes such an important landmark in my digital life:

See that little blue triangle? That’s my dad. Last Thursday. WOOT!

My other great adventure today was installing XAMPP, which I know slightly more than absolutely nothing about. I know 1) it turns part of my computer into this thing called ‘localhost’ which does the server-side php stuff I discussed in last night’s post, 2) it can host WordPress sites without internet access, letting you work on blogs and php programming while offline, and 3) it uses some fancy Linux thing called Apache that makes servers do their serving. I guess.

So, more on that later when I figure out what the heck it is. It was fairly easy to set up, so that bodes well. It also comes with all kinds of plugin type doohickeys that I wasn’t smart enough to understand at this juncture, so I don’t know how hard they are to install. I’ll keep you posted.

Until then, happy programming, and I hope to see another little blue triangle soon!

UPDATE (April 10, 2014):
It’s been five whole days and I just checked in on Google Analytics again. I have a whopping 7 visitors! Probably all spammers (either that or I really did get featured on a post at awesomeviagrabigpenis.com) but you gotta start somewhere, right? At least someone is finding me.
